An ode to the feminine voice

SILENCE: A TRUTH ABOUT EVERY WOMAN

Silent?
Why?
You have a beautiful voice
Raise it and speak
with your chin up high

But its too hard
With all these doors
Shutting me out;
Sewing my mouth
like tattered pieces of clothes
Throwing my voice,
on these ice-cold floors

Your voice is like a flower;
that needs care and nourishment
the seed needs no support
to grow,
it only needs some prolific earth
only some damp rain
only the radiant golden sun
and a devoted caregiver.

And that caregiver is you, my friend
it’s you through and through.

  1. Hey Simran! You’ve done it again. I believe this is your first originally poem written which you’ve published here? Anyway, your words were extremely crafted and poignant. I loved certain metaphors like ‘Sewing my mouth like tattered clothes’ and ‘Throwing my voice on ice-cold floors’. Keep up the wonderful work, and try to post more regularly!
    Peace and Blessings,
